“ Back again like I said! They did update the labels yay! A little heavy on the numbing sauce this time but my friends got the broth and they both liked it. You can ask to adjust salt at the counter which is nice. Bone broth is better than tomato broth allegedly ”
“ Coming on a Monday late lunch, I thought maybe it'd be easier to get a table. Didn't seem like it, still had to wait about 10 minutes to get seated, and it being MLK, maybe that's why. There were plenty of ingredients to choose from. I must have gotten almost 2 pounds of food since my total came to around $29. Though, admittedly, this did serve me for about 3 meals (2 nights of leftovers). The ingredients quality was pretty good, and overall, the place felt clean, though the fact that you had to use the same tongs for every section (including the meat and veggie sections) felt maybe slightly unsanitary, though I'm sure it get boiled out when they prepare the meal. I got the classic bone broth, mild, and it still got me a little sweaty. But generally speaking, it was all really tasty and I liked the variety of ingredients. Service was also fairly quick and courteous. ”
“ This is a whole new way to do a hotpot. Usually I have tried doing shabu shabby where you cook it on your table. This one , you choose your proteins, seafood and veggies. You also choose your own broth: classic bone broth , Tom yum, tomato or mushroom. It came out pretty good. I got the Tom yum and it came out hot , tasty and spicy. Just the perfect combo on a cold freezing night . My daughter got the bone broth and it was good too but with no spice. You also get to choose your own sauce or any condiments you want . Altogether very good place to eat and priced just right. It can get a little crowded but wait was under 20 mins. Sign up ahead and try it. Service was very efficient. Quick and friendly! ”
“ My husband liked the authentic yet personalized meal! Everyone in the family could customize their ingredients and spice level. ”
“ I really like malatang in general but I would have to say this is my favorite malatang in the bay so far. And we've tried quite a bit. This place is $14.99/lb and they have a really wide selection of items including pricer things like pea sprout and innards which are my favorite. They also have a wide selection of meats, seafood, and an assortment of balls. But their selection options is probably one of largest that I've been to. And their sauce option is decent. My favorite base is the bone broth. The soup base is smooth unlike some other places and the mala has just enough of a kick. They're super efficient with getting people a seat but are not pushy about kicking people out. Their staff is super nice and are attentive enough when you need more water or napkins. It's a comfortable place to eat and clean as well. ”
“ This place always has a line out the door whenever we walk by. Today we got there at 5:30pm and were able to walk in without waiting at all. You get in line, grab a big plastic clear bowl and a tong, and you start grabbing whatever ingredients you want from the buffet line. However, beware of what and how much you grab because you pay by the weight so you need to be somewhat skillful in the amount of ingredients you choose for your soup. My bowl came out to be about 1.3 lbs just the way I like it, but my friends miscalculated and their bowls came out to be over 2 to 3 lbs each, making it into a pricey meal. Doh! I chose the Tom Yum soup base. My friends chose the tomato soup base and mushroom soup base. Then you go to the sauce bar next to custom make your dipping sauce. They give you a # tag bracelet for your order and you get seated to wait for your food. The final product in the bowl were huge, savory and delicious. I really love the Tom Yum soup with all the ingredients handpicked by me. Overall, this place is quite an experience. ”
“ Zhangliang is a great place for Malatang! There is a wide selection of foods to add into your bowl and I just like how customizable Malatang is. Be careful with how much you add though because it can add up! I like how this place doesn't have a minimum weight limit, sometimes when I'm not too hungry I like to come here and it's nice to not have to put much in a bowl! No matter how much food you get though, the portion of broth is huge and this is nice for leftovers. I like to get the Tom yum soup base and the flavor is great without feeling too heavy. Overall, this is a solid place for Malatang! The staff come around with waters and the place has a nice sauce bar. ”
“ This is a great deal if you're looking to get an individual hotpot with a wide variety of options. The hotpot is $14.99/lb, and they weigh your bowl by the amount of items you get (the broth is not part of the weight). There's also so many options! Like definitely make sure not to get too many things in the first section, because there's so many other sections left! They have so many types of meat, meatballs, vegetables, tofu, etc. I got their blood tofu which was quality. It did not taste grainy and was quite smooth and pleasant. In the back, after the payment counter, there's toppings, the bowls and the spoons are underneath the cart in the fridge-looking cabinet For vegetarians: There's a lot of vegetable options with this hot pot, but everyone gets a single tong to pick all their items with, so there's definitely some cross-contamination between the meats and the vegetables. So it depends how strict of a vegetarian you are They have 5 different broth options. I got the classic broth and you can select different spice levels. I selected mild, which was surprisingly spicy to be honest, but I could still eat it (just didn't expect that level of spice for mild). After you get the hotpot you pay at the front. They give you a plastic ticket number, and then they cook it for you and bring it over. I like that they do that because it's very convenient. The service was fast. There was a long line to get in, but it moved quickly. So after joining the waitlist we were able to get in line after 15 to 20 minutes. I also didn't feel like we waited too long to pay or for food to arrive, which was great. The inside is modern and warm. It feels newly renovated and it's clean. They also accent the restaurant in this orange detail, which is fun. Parking: Downtown Mountain View has plenty of lots, so it's not hard to find parking. ”
“ This is like a dry hot pot place. You self-serve from a variety of raw meat, vegetables, noodles; at the end, you choose a broth/dry sauce to get your ingredients cooked in. The price varies by the pound (minimum 1 lb), but it's pretty difficult to get the amount exact. I always get too much food and take the rest home when I'm done! So far I've only tried the dry spicy sauce, but I definitely need to try the other sauces/broths sometime. ”
“ I went on a weekend so there was a bit of a wait. There's a serving bar and you get what you like. You choose a soup and pay by the pound at the register. It's very straight forward. There's also a small sauce bar as well. It's a great place to eat with family and friends. The plaza has plenty of parking, so it's pretty convenient. ”
